Who we are
Cacciagrande, a story to tell
Cacciagrande, my dream come true
When I was twenty-two, I faced a big decision: university and my passion for literature, or my father Massimo’s farm, his dream turned reality. I chose a third path instead: I decided to produce wine with my own brand, capable of reflecting my character and my way of working. Thus, in 1997, Cacciagrande was born.
The area in Castiglione
At that time, Castiglione lacked a strong winemaking tradition, despite its huge potential: close to the sea, with Mediterranean scrub, the dry Mistral wind, and mineral-rich soil—much like Bolgheri, already a global name.
Intuition
This intuition proved spot-on, just like planting Viognier from the southern Rhône and Bordeaux’s Petit Verdot. High-quality varieties that were yet to win over the demanding Made in Tuscany audience.
As the wines matured, so did our knowledge of this perfect wine-growing region. Cacciagrande began to gain recognition, and my family grew with the business.
Sacrifice, enthusiasm and passion
In 2005, we completed the new winery and adjoining home where I moved with my wife Maria Elena and our children. In 2007, we opened the sales point in Castiglione della Pescaia. In 2014, the new tasting room opened, offering visitors unforgettable experiences, and in 2020 we built the new and largest winemaking cellar.
Looking back, I see 30 years of hard work, sacrifices, and passion. Looking forward, I see countless pages yet to be written, with the same enthusiasm that has driven me so far. Because Cacciagrande is a part of me.
The vocation of a land, the passion of a family.
The Maremma region, with its warm and dry climate, perfectly suits the patient approach of a proudly family-run operation. From agronomic management to bottling, through harvesting and long, temperature-controlled macerations, every phase is handled with care, love for the soil, and respect for its natural rhythms.
